In 1999, the Brother Group formulated the Brother Group Global Charter for employees to refer to as a guide when making everyday work decisions. Following on from this the Fundamental Philosophy of Brother Group’s CSR Management was introduced towards the end of 2006 with the intention of growing the business through the adoption of CSR Management. A special group focussing exclusively on CSR Management was formed soon after with representation from Brother sales companies throughout the world.
New Zealand is a contributing member to this Group and indeed has led the way on many of the employee and environmental CSR initiatives which set Brother apart as a responsible corporate citizen. The Brother Group Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2007 places the fulfilment of the customer’s growing and changing needs as paramount and this is achieved through each employee being encouraged to take responsibility:
To support this principal with an attainable goal, Brother established “Global Vision 21”in 2003. This is a mid-to long-term corporate vision which outlines how the Brother Group will grow through to March 2013. Global Vision 21 can best be encapsulated in the following statements:
· To become a leading global company with high profitability
· To become a world-class manufacturer by developing outstanding proprietary technologies
· To embody Brother’s motto “At your side”, throughout the company’s worldwide corporate culture
How does this translate to how Brother International New Zealand conducts business on a day to day level? From an Environmental perspective, we have the most comprehensive and accessible recycling programme offered by any printer manufacturer in New Zealand. Brother takes responsibility for the products we manufacture throughout the life of the consumable or machine in question and it is this product stewardship that sets us apart. Visit our recycling section to find out more.
Our ISO9001 Quality Certification stands as testament to the commitment we give to customers and stakeholders by way of consistency of service while our ISO14001 Environmental Certification underpins our obligation to the wider community through respect for the local environment which all employees are encouraged to carry through to their home lives.
Employee Satisfaction forms a large part of our CSR Management with employees provided the foundation and guiding principles to make decisions in their day to day activities, which reflect a commitment to delivering the highest standard of service to our customers and stakeholders. Furthermore the benefits given to our employees often exceed that which we are required under law to provide with life insurance, generous provisions for maternity leave and health cover provided to all employees.
CSR Management is central to the way we manage our business both locally and globally and we see this as key to providing growth and confidence in our brand which promotes “At your side” as the guiding principle in all we undertake.
