1.1. The health, safety and well-being of all workers and visitors, is of prime importance to Brother International (NZ) Limited (Brother). It is our intention to strive for excellence in health and safety management. This is achieved through the cooperation and compliance of every worker with Brother procedures and relevant work standards, which are developed through a participatory approach.
2.1. This policy applies to all workers of Brother, including full-time, part-time and casual employees, contractors and sub-contractors, employees of a contractor or sub-contractor, and visitors to Brother’s premises.
2.2 This policy applies to all workplaces of Brother, including but not limited to offices, warehouse, home offices and company vehicles.
2.3. Brother acknowledges health and safety duties can overlap in a contracting chain, where Brother’s contractors and subcontractors provide services for Brother. Brother will ensure working together with the contractors and subcontractors where duties overlap and ensure risks are collectively managed.
3.1. Brother is committed to:
a.) providing safe and healthy working conditions for the prevention of work-related injury and ill health;
b.) ensuring the Board of Directors identify and set OH&S objectives and quantifiable targets;
c.) meeting or exceeding the applicable laws, regulations, standards, Brother Group regulations, and other compliance obligations relating to our business;
d.) identifying and controlling actual and potential workplace hazards and reducing OH&S risks;
e.) striving for continuous improvement of OH&S management system and the continuous enhancement of workers’ health and safety performance; and
f.) consulting workers for the development and review of health and safety policies and procedures for the workplace.
3.2. We will achieve this by:
a.) providing resources and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to achieve the required outcomes;
b.) providing a safe and healthy work environment where the risks are properly controlled;
c.) establishing and maintaining communication on health and safety and promoting a culture of health and safety;
d.) supporting staff participation in health and safety matters via Health and Safety Committee;
e.) identifying needs and providing training on health and safety;
f.) demonstrating a commitment to the accurate reporting and recording of health and safety matters;
g.) regularly reviewing to ensure ongoing conformity with applicable laws and other compliance obligations;
h.) implementing an emergency response plan and conducting regular drills for events such as fire and earthquake; and
i.) providing prompt, effective work-based rehabilitation for all work-related injuries, and non-work injuries where appropriate and possible.
4.1. The Board of Directors hold responsibility for Brother’s Health and Safety Policy by identifying health and safety objectives and setting quantifiable targets.
4.2. It is the responsibility of all workers, and visitors to Brother’s premises to adhere to the health and safety management system.
4.3. Workers must take reasonable care of their own health and safety and ensure that their actions don’t cause harm to themselves or others.
