ISO Limited is a port logistics company operating throughout New Zealand. They handle millions of tonnes of cargo every year.
When ISO’s existing managed print solution agreement was coming to an end, they reached out to Brother through Authorised Reseller, OfficeMax, who are their existing provider of office supplies, cleaning products and milk, requesting a new fit-for-purpose managed print solution.
ISO Limited operate out of ports and log yards across the length of New Zealand, from Marsden Point near Whangārei to Bluff, including in some isolated locations. They needed a supplier who could set up their printer network, service it and provide on the ground support in every location.
Their print devices are often in transient buildings where there is constant grease, dust, and dirt. Site operators needed simple robust printers that were easy to use and worked well in the harsh environments around the clock.
The installation, roll-out and user training needed to be well-managed and quick for staff in order to minimise disruptions to day-to-day business. While the ongoing service needed to fade into the subconscious with processes and admin that were not cumbersome.
Brother partnered with OfficeMax to customise a bespoke Managed Print Service based on a thorough investigation of ISO’s unique requirements.
They didn’t just replace machines like-for-like. They analysed print needs at individual sites and specified various models to ensure they were fit for purpose. These included A3 Konica Minolta multifunction printers for A3 colour requirements, and robust, cost-effective Brother laser multi-function printers for specific harsh working environments.
This tailored product offering was on an interest-free operating lease and consolidated invoicing through ISO’s existing OfficeMax arrangement. It included full service and support of printers in all locations and added benefits like staff training, free-to-site consumable replenishment, access to Brother’s 24/7 New Zealand–based Helpdesk and a preventative maintenance programme.
The MPS solution resulted in ISO sites having a network of printers that were tailored for the needs of each location. Overall, the managed print solution offered benefitted in a considerable cost reduction, while meeting all functional print service requirements. The changeover was well managed across each location, with minimal disruption and down time.
Because OfficeMax were already an existing supplier for ISO, they could provide consolidated invoicing which incorporate ISO’s cost centre codes making it easy to proportion the print costs against their individual sites and reduced admin time for accounts teams.
According to ISO GM Commercial & Business Development Justin Scholes, it was the total package that convinced him to switch to Brother through OfficeMax as the Authorised Reseller.
"It came down partly to cost, but Brother also made us feel welcome and that they valued the potential partnership. They did some good homework about our business and took the time to understand us."
"They put forward machines that were fit for purpose instead of upselling. They took the time to get to know us and went out of their way to make it a good experience. The roll out of machines was great. Plus, their contract was straightforward, fair and transparent."
"They made us feel like we were a key business partner and wanted to work with us to find a cost effective and fit for purpose managed print solution. They challenged the status quo by putting forward a solution that was really right for us at a great price point, resulting in some good savings."
