Brother is partnered with ISO-certified e-waste experts, Recycling Group, to offer a comprehensive recycling service to all their customers.

Brother cartridge recycling boxes can be found in schools, banks, hospitals, retailers, and other corporate and SME customers. With participation from more than 2,000 active recycling customers, Brother has prevented over one million units of laser and inkjet cartridges entering landfill so far*.

Brother also funds free drop-off points across Aotearoa for devices and cartridges of any make and also offers genuine product stewardship for its own and competitor products. Brother also recycle all brands of hardware recovered from its customers, having recycled more than 300 tonnes to date*

*As at 31/03/2023

All consumables can be placed in the box - from the smallest ink cartridge to the largest drum unit.

It only takes a few simple steps:

  1. Any consumable that requires recycling should be put in the toner recycling box at the internal mail collection point for each department.
  2. Mailroom staff will collect consumables for recycling on their next delivery to the building.
  3. As required, new toner will be delivered by the mailroom to each department.

Where possible, please recycle any cardboard packaging in a normal dedicated recycling bin.

To organise a box collection when full, phone Recycling Group: 0800 180 160.

All empty cartridges and packaging placed into the Brother recycling boxes across campus will be returned to Brother’s ISO-certified e-waste partner, Recycling Group.

On arrival, plastics are sorted by type, which determines the pathway for resource circulation. Examples include:

  • HDPE (high-density polyethylene plastic), which can be made into new products such as electric fence insulators.
  • LDPE (low-density polyethylene plastic), which can be made into new products such as cable reels.
  • PS (polystyrene plastic), which can be made into new products such as coat hangers.
  • Waste toner is disposed through a waste to energy process.

Please note these final products may change depending on demands/supply.

Brother also ship selected empty toner cartridges to Brother recycling facilities overseas, where these are remanufactured and used in other markets.

PaperCut

FollowMe printing uses a single print queue for all printers. It works in a way that allows you to print a document and then go to any printer, login/swipe your card and release the print job. Rather than having to choose a specific printer your print jobs "follow" to whichever printer you sign into, or swipe your card for.

The simplest method for an on-campus Windows user is to click Start > Run and enter: \\print.massey.ac.nz\FollowMe
This will add the FollowMe print queue and allow you to send print jobs to the PaperCut queue and login and release them, at all devices managed by PaperCut MF.

Web Print is a driverless printing service available with PaperCut MF. It allows users to print by uploading documents from a web browser. No client software or driver installation is required.
