HOW TO FIX PRINT & SCAN ISSUES CAUSED BY WINDOWS 10 UPGRADE

Before you start:

  • You’ll need Administrative Rights on your computer
  • If your computer is attached to your printer via a USB cable, please disconnect it before you begin.

Removing Driver history:

1. Open the Control Panel on your computer.
2.
Open the ‘Hardware and Sound’ folder and then click on ‘Devices and Printers’.
3. Right click on your Brother printer model  and select ‘Remove Device’ from the menu.
4. Confirm the removal by clicking ‘Yes’.
5. Once removed, left click on another device and open ‘Print server properties’ from the top of the window.
6. Click on the ‘Drivers’ tab and check to see if there are any entries for your Brother printer.
7. If there are, please select and remove them.
8. Now return to the Control Panel home screen. Select Programs and then Programs and Features.
9. Select and remove any Brother entries. Once complete, please restart your computer.

Un-installing Printer software:

10. Once Windows has rebooted, open your Internet browser and go to Brother’s Support Website.
11. Click on the ‘Downloads’ option then type your Brother printer model name into the search box.
12. Select your operating system and if Windows 10 isn’t available, select Windows 8.1 instead and press search.
13. A page should open with your printer model in the top left corner. Scroll down to find ‘Utilities’ and select the ‘Uninstall Tool’.
14. On the next page, agree to the End-user License Agreement and a download should automatically start.
15. Once the download has completed, click ‘Run’ in the pop-up window.
16. Browse to save the file to your desktop then select the ‘Decompress’ option.
17. Next go to the Desktop and open the new folder ‘remPnP’ then select the application file ‘BrRemPnP.exe’. Confirm that you allow the application to make changes to your computer.
18. Now select your Brother printer model from the drop down menu and click ‘OK’.
19. Wait for the uninstall to complete then click ‘OK’.

Re-installing Printer software:

20. Open your Internet browser and go to Brother’s Support Website.
21. Click on the ‘Downloads’ option then type your Brother printer model name into the search box.
22. Select your operating system and if Windows 10 isn’t available, select Windows 8.1 instead and press search.
23. Click on the ‘Full Driver & Software Package’ and on the following page, agree to the End-user License Agreement and download.
24. Press ‘Run’ on the pop-up window at the bottom of the screen. The software will now begin to download.
25. Once the download is complete, you’ll be prompted to select your language of choice.
26. To complete the installation you’ll need to restart your computer once again.
27. When your computer has rebooted you can re-connect the USB cable between your printer and computer when advised.

Please print a test page after the installation has completed to ensure it was successful.
