Print. Return. Recycle.

Sustainability starts with small actions—like recycling your used printer consumables. Our recycling programme makes it easy to minimise waste and support a circular economy. Simply collect your used Brother and Konica Minolta consumables, request a free recycling pick up, and return them with the provided pre-paid courier label. We’ll ensure they’re processed responsibly, keeping waste out of landfills and giving materials a second life.

What you can put in the box

  • Toner cartridges
  • Ink cartridges
  • Drum units
  • Waste toner boxes
  • Labelling cassettes
  • Consumables packaging (e.g. soft plastics, hard plastics)

What you can't put in the box

  • Printer hardware
  • Label printer hardware
  • General recycling (e.g. cans, paper, cardboard)
  • General waste

Helpful Tips!

  • If you have a leaking consumable (e.g., an ink cartridge), please place it in its original packaging or a secure container before adding it to the recycling box. This prevents contamination of other items. If leaked ink spreads and affects other consumables, they may become non-recyclable and could be redirected to general waste.
  • We recommend disposing of any pulp and cardboard packaging through your existing on-site recycling bins, as these materials are processed through the same local recycling streams. This ensures efficient waste management while reducing environmental impact.

To ensure the box is safely collected, the total weight of the contents should not exceed 20 kg, which is roughly equivalent to 8 reams of A4 paper. We recommend taping the bottom of the box for extra security. Please make sure that the box is not overpacked, as it may cause issues during pick up or handling.

Complete the form on this page to request pick up of any full recycling boxes, order new empty boxes, or both. If you need to make multiple requests for different locations, you must submit a separate form for each location.

Yes! You can request both a pick up and replacement boxes in the same form. However, the delivery address for new boxes must be the same as the pick up address. If you need them sent elsewhere, submit a separate request.

Important: The email and pickup/delivery address you provide on the form are for validation purposes only. The site contact email address and site location details that will be used were provided when your Recycling Group account was setup (e.g. for Managed Print Services customers, these were obtained at the start of your print contract). If you need to update these details, please contact Recycling Group directly via email admin@recyclinggroup.co.nz

Your request will be sent to Recycling Group, who process requests during standard business hours (Monday–Friday, excluding public holidays). If you've requested a pick up, the designated site contact provided to Recycling Group when the account was setup will receive an email with pre-paid PDF courier ticket(s) attached. The tickets must be printed and attached to the top of your full recycling box before booking a pickup with NZ Post. If you've requested replacement recycling box/es, these will be dispatched via courier within 3-5 business days. These will be delivered to the site address they have on file for your location.

Once you’ve received a courier label via email and attached it securely to the top of the recycling box, you can book a free pickup through NZ Post.

If you're a NZ Post business customer, you can place the box(es) in your standard designated collection area with your other business parcels to be collected.

A Brother toner cartridge

Important: Handling Brother Toners

After removing your empty Brother toners from your device, please:

  1. Attach the orange plastic cover from the new toner onto the old toner.

  2. Place the toner back into the original foil bag.

  3. Avoid dropping the cartridges directly into the box to prevent damage.

This helps keep toner cartridges in top condition for remanufacturing, as damaged ones cannot be accepted. The orange cover protects key components from damage.

How Your Brother Recycling Box Makes a Difference

When you recycle with us, Recycling Group carefully sorts and processes all consumables and packaging from your Brother recycling box to ensure maximum resource recovery. Based on all Brother materials collected by Recycling Group, approximately 98%1 by weight is recycled into various new pathways.

  • Remanufacturing: Selected Brother toner cartridges that are suitable for reuse are set aside for remanufacturing overseas, extending their lifecycle and reducing waste.
  • Material Recovery: Other cartridges, drums, waste toner boxes, and belt units are dismantled into their core materials—plastics, metals, and components—for reuse in new products across global markets.
  • Local Recycling: Cardboard and pulp are processed through local recycling pathways, keeping these materials within New Zealand’s recycling streams.
  • Hardware Recycling: Recycling Group also manages end-of-life recycling for Brother and Konica Minolta devices for all customers, breaking them down into reusable materials like plastics, metals, and glass.
  • Residual toner: This is incinerated through waste-to-energy solutions, contributing to responsible resource management.
