We are proud to have been recognised as one of five finalists for the 'Excellence in Climate Action 2019 – Medium Organisation' award at last week’s Enviro-Mark Solutions Awards breakfast.
The awards recognise organisations that have achieved outstanding reductions in carbon emissions using the carboNZerocertTM and CEMARS® programmes, as well as exceptional environmental performance through the Enviro-Mark® programme.
To qualify for an Excellence in Climate Action award, organisations must be carboNZero or CEMARS certified for at least three years and have achieved a minimum of 20% absolute reduction in carbon emissions. A criteria that requires significant dedication and shows every shortlisted organisations’ ongoing commitment to managing, and reducing or offsetting carbon emissions.
Brother NZ was the only printer product brand to be named as a finalist and one of more than 131 carboNZero or CEMARS certified organisations in the running. Being named a finalist recognises our carbon emissions reduction of 45 per cent between April 2011 and March 2018 – emissions that are the equivalent of 133 return economy flights from Auckland to London. This significant reduction was made possible through continual operational improvements and reflects our ongoing commitment to our Environmental Policy.
“Environmental awareness is at the cornerstone of all Brother’s operations and is something we instil in our people. We are committed to reducing carbon emissions through our environmental initiatives and will always strive to exceed the requirements to be recognised as being at the forefront of environmentally sound and sustainable business practices,” says Mayuko Hirose, Brother NZ’s Director of Corporate Strategy and CSR.
Brother NZ would like to congratulate all finalists and winners of these awards who are leading the way in creating a better and more sustainable environment. We are proud to be positioned alongside them and hope to encourage our customers and other organisations to follow and take action for a cleaner and greener environment now and for future generations.
