Our commitment to corporate social responsibility

Brother’s Corporate Social Responsibility principles are guided by the Brother Group Global Charter, established in 1999. This charter outlines our commitment to quality, customer-first values and environmental care, forming the foundation of how we operate as a responsible business.

CSR is part of who we are and reflects our promise to be “At Your Side.” Every action we take aims to benefit our customers, employees and communities while supporting a sustainable future.

Brother Earth

Working with you for a sustainable future

Brother Earth began in 2010 as a global slogan for environmental initiatives. From 2025, it represents our broader commitment to sustainability, guided by the message “Working with you for a sustainable future.”

Through this commitment, the Brother Group supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), addressing global challenges through innovation, environmental preservation, and community engagement.

You can explore these global initiatives on Brother SDGs STORY, where the Brother Group shares its sustainability and environmental conservation activities under the Brother Earth slogan.

EPS/EPE-free packaging

We are phasing out non-recyclable polystyrene (EPS) and polyethylene (EPE) from our packaging. By replacing these materials with recyclable cardboard and pulp, we are reducing waste and promoting more sustainable packaging solutions.

Circular Economy

Recycling for a better tomorrow

Brother New Zealand is committed to closing the loop through responsible recycling and resource recovery. In partnership with certified e-waste recycler, Recycling Group, we ensure our consumables and hardware are processed with care and transparency.

Since the launch of our recycling programme in 2008, approximately 98%1 of all Brother materials collected have been recycled into new uses, giving valuable resources a second life and keeping waste out of landfills. This partnership supports a truly circular economy where sustainability is built into every stage of the product lifecycle.

Community

Supporting people, communities and the environment

Partnerships and community initiatives are central to how Brother New Zealand gives back. We collaborate with organisations that share our values to create long-term, meaningful change across Aotearoa. From environmental restoration to education and local giving, our partnerships reflect our commitment to helping New Zealand communities thrive.

Brother New Zealand is a proud Trees That Count Native Tree Supporter, helping restore Aotearoa’s biodiversity through the planting of more than 2,500 native trees to date. This initiative supports carbon reduction, wildlife habitats and community wellbeing while reflecting our commitment to kaitiakitanga and global sustainability.

Brother New Zealand is a Bronze Sponsor of OfficeMax’s Max-e Grants programme, which provides funding to schools and community groups across Aotearoa. This partnership helps enhance education and community development through meaningful local projects.

Brother New Zealand supports the Bay of Plenty Youth Development Trust and its Imagine Believe Achieve (IBA) programme, which helps young people develop life and work-readiness skills enriched with tikanga and te reo Māori. Through this partnership, we’ve hosted interns who have gained confidence, discipline and direction, supporting pathways into study, training and employment.

Brother New Zealand is proud to support the Young Innovator Awards (yia!), a Priority One initiative that empowers students across the Western Bay of Plenty to explore creativity, problem-solving and design thinking. In 2025, yia! evolved into a one-day, hands-on innovation workshop designed to connect students, teachers and industry while building future-ready skills and inspiring creative thinking.
